Family Math and Science Night
Eastford Road School held their Family Math and Science Night on Thursday, May from 6:00-7:30 PM. Forty kindergarten and first grade students and their parents attended and participated in 11 various activities. This event was organized by first grade teacher, Mrs. Judy Cournoyer and kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Sinni. Family Literacy Bingo Night
Family Literacy Bingo Night was held at Eastford Road School on Thursday, April 7, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Seventy Kindergarten and Grade One students attended this evening with their parents. The children listened to two selections of Dr. Seuss literature. The ten bingo games aligned with our Harcourt Reading Series. Each child received a certificate of attendance, a take home activity and a parent informational packet. A special thanks goes out to the coordinators Ms. Frabotta, Mrs. Fontaine and Mr. Lataille as well as the Southbridge Elementary PTA for sponsoring this event and The Southbridge Evening News for great media coverage. A fun evening was had by all!
The Cat in the Hat Celebration In honor of Dr. Seuss, students and faculty had the pleasure of being read to by the Cat in the Hat on Wednesday, March 2. Students from Wells Middle School also visited and read to students in classrooms in honor of Read Across Southbridge Day.
Winter Snow Show
Eastford Road School's Kindergarten and First Grade students performed a Winter Snow Show under the direction of their music teacher, Mrs. Pamela Goodnow, on Friday, January 28, 2011. To prepare for the show, the students spent several weeks practicing their winter, snow, and ice songs. In addition to the performance, parents had the opportunity to view some of the children's artwork that was displayed thoughout the cafetorium.
Feeling Big Family Literacy Night The Feeling Big Family Literacy Night was held Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Eastford Road School. Eastford Road Kindergarten Teacher, Ms. Frabotta and Kindergarten Paraprofessional, Mrs. Fontaine orchestrated our “Feeling Big” Literacy Night event with the help of other staff members. Mr. Dennis Lataille, Director of Title One and Helping Hands Preschool, read the literature for the evening.
Mothers, fathers, grandparents and siblings all enjoyed their time with one another as they listened to the stories, and created the Rainbow Fish, The Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, The Itsy Bitsy Spider and his web and the book, It Looked Like Spilt Milk activities. The Hallways of ERS
